Come and work with us at Paper
We’re about to ask for something big. We’re looking for someone to come and work with us here at Paper. It’s our first official hire.
Paper is a user research and design studio. We decided right at the very beginning we would specialise, as this is what we enjoy, and what we’re good at. If you want to get a feel for if you’d like to work with us, or if you have the right skills, have a look at what we offer by reading our website. The mission for this role
The mission is simple to state, but can be difficult to enact. We want to work with clients to help them understand their users and create better digital experiences. We work to challenge clients to do things differently and that often means challenging ourselves to do things differently too.
You’ll help shape our business and how it grows to bring better successes to digital projects through a user centered approach.
How this role will challenge you
This is not an easy role, and that’s why it’s a great opportunity. You’ll be joining an experienced team who have crafted this business. We want you to challenge our approach to give us an extra insight into how we run our business.
We’re not “yes people”. We’re realists and we work hard to make things the best they can be.
You’ll have opportunities to challenge yourself to learn and adapt at a rapid pace. Most of the work we do is working with the unknown and asking “what if?”.
It’s not all about billable work either, you will be working on Paper funded R&D projects to create your own (and others’) products.
How might you shape our business?
Our culture is of openness and transparency. We’re not afraid to ask difficult questions of our business to make it a better place to work. But we want you to ask some of those questions too.
We’re learning as we go, we have a set of published principles that guide the decisions we make.

Working at Paper you will be given the space to find what inspires you, that may be taking part in legup projects with social good goals, co-creating your own products such as legup.social, or finding new ways of doing things.
Paper is completely independent. No external investors, no Senior Management Team, no hierarchy, just three co-founders who love the work we do.

Why no job title?
We don’t want to pigeonhole the role. Our business is still young and we want to meet people who work in the industry in addition to those who don’t but maybe have the potential. Advertising for a “user researcher” or “interaction designer” may exclude people we’d like to meet. We are experimenting with this though!
Salary & Benefits
Tough one. We’re a new business and we’ll be honest, we can’t (yet) match monetary amounts some larger organisations are offering (Sky, Home Office et al) but we do believe we have a unique proposition and want to grow with you. If you really want to work with us we will push as much as possible to accommodate your salary. We also offer 25 days of holidays.
We also offer flexible working which we are happy to chat about. We don’t even know if this is a full time or part time role, we still want to hear from you.
