It’s been 6 months in the making but we’re finally ready to introduce Paper.
We’re three people who have worked together for years with our roots in Sheffield throughout the digital industry. We’re mates, colleagues and enemies which makes us a formidable team.
As Paper we’re young, brand new in fact. As Mark, Jon and Cam we’ve know each other for 5 years and originally met as colleagues at Technophobia. That’s where this story begins:
I left Technophobia after 2 great years and decided to go it alone. I turned to a career of freelancing frequenting various agencies and businesses across the country before working with Jon and Cam again more recently. We seemed such a good team and had ideas that we could only achieve together and so begins Paper. I’m really happy to be part of a team again leaving behind my time as an individual and can’t wait to see where we go now we have control of the ship.
I landed into being a project manager by chance, spending the last 10 years or so working in a few different places, both client-side agencies and large organisations. The three of us have done some cracking work together already and it was the right time to give it a go ourselves.
It’s hugely exciting to get to work with these two each day and I’m genuinely chuffed with what we’ve done so far with Paper. And it’s great to think about what we’ll be on with next.
I never wanted to be a salesman and I’ve worked hard at not becoming one, but over the past 16 years studying and working in graphic design, videogames, and web design I’ve consistently found that owning the commercial relationship gives you the freedom to produce your own work.
At the start of it all I was a designer, frustrated with the demands of the people with money, and now 16 years later, Paper is my chance to create an environment where designers can produce great work and have fun doing it.
We’re very fortunate to have the opportunity to try our own thing and to have a great set of people who have supported us throughout our decision so if you’re one of those, thanks, we look forward to seeing you again soon as Paper. Meanwhile we’re based in the Globe works so come and say hello any time.
Consider Paper officially off the ground.
